7 of the best places in Jumeirah Village Circle

7 of the best places in Jumeirah Village Circle

Some of our favourite spots in the great-value neighbourhood

An increasingly popular and reasonably priced residential community along Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, Jumeirah Village is currently made up of two different neighbourhoods: Jumeirah Village Triangle just behind Emirates Living and Jumeirah Village Circle across the highway, towards Dubailand – but we’re here to talk about the latter which is otherwise known as JVC.

The family-friendly neighbourhood is still relatively quiet, with no massive shopping mall at its centre (for now) but what you will find is plenty of kids’ playgrounds, more than 30 pretty parks to choose from, cute home-grown restaurants and a warming sense of community – and let’s not forget the buzzing FIVE Jumeirah Village which is known for its penthouse parties and fun atmosphere, with a cool new opening coming soon – watch this space for updates.

Whether you’re a long-time resident or just paying the circle a visit, here are our top picks of places to check out.

Bakericious

A JVC fave, this bakery and café serves up an assortment of artisan breads, an international mix of mains (think pastas, meaty platters and jam-packed sandwiches) but let’s talk breakfast. From a belly-busting full English to shakshouka, a morning meal here with have you sorted for the day.
Open Sun-Fri 9am-2am. Autumn Cluster, JVC (04 566 7615).

FIVE Jumeirah Village

FIVE Jumeirah Village (and its 269 swimming pools) is one of the coolest hotels in the city, and certainly among the most talked-about. Private pool penthouses, a contemporary spa, a high-tech gym, lively restaurants and more, this popular hotel is one for Dubai’s party peeps.
JVC (04 248 9999).

The Coffee Mug

Don’t let the name deceive you. You’ll find no cold brews and Spanish lattes on the menu here – The Coffee Mug is your neighbourhood Korean. Bulgogi, bibimbap, japchae and kimchi are the shining stars at this cute and cosy Korean-fusion restaurant, with the spicy wings the highlight.
Open Sat-Thu 9am-2.30pm & 5.30pm-10pm, Fri 3pm-10pm. Gardenia 2, JVC (04 557 7691).

Trattoria by Cinque

This cool, relaxed Italian is a popular spot for a night out. The authentic menu comes from chef Giuseppe Pezzella and fans of Italian eats can expect classic salads, pasta and traditional Neapolitan pizzas, plus great deals including ladies’ night on Mondays.
Open daily 12.30pm-1am. FIVE Jumeirah Village (04 455 9989).

Sticky Rice

Cosy and family-run, Sticky Rice is one of Dubai’s best Thai restaurants thanks to its charming personality and homely vibes. Food cooked with love and packed full of flavour, a trip here is always a treat. Our top picks? The sticky wings, classic tom yum soup, and Mama’s famous mango sticky rice.
Open daily 2pm-10.30pm. Sobha Daffodil, JVC (04 580 8350).
